前言

本次展览作品艺术类型包括录像、装置、行为性绘画等多种媒介和形式。参展艺术家是：艾旭东、丁秋发、郝好、灰灰、李强、庄伯五。本次开放展的艺术家之前均从事绘画创作，此次展览艺术家们选择了多种语言媒介作为观念的载体，可以说是对于自身艺术创作的一次重要突破。新艺术思想的产生和创作，其基本条件就是对原有艺术语言以及定型化文化框架的逾越，所谓“不破不立”，破是前提，是一种基于艺术精神理念上的彻底的梳理、置换、和有针对性的否定，立只有在此基础上才是真正的立。

因此，我将此次展览看成是费家村10号院艺术家在艺术思考和创作实践上的一次跨越。这种跨越不只是艺术形式上的跨越，更是一次艺术思想的位移和文化洞穿——一种之于艺术批判视角和对语言本体价值的重新修正以及对现实存在的质疑。

当然，艺术家们对原在艺术语言的突破与应用，并非仅仅停留于艺术创作的表面，而是有针对性的选择。也就是说，一种艺术语言的有效性是艺术家针对问题思考的有效性。因此我认为，语言在当代艺术的观念性陈述中属于能指的范畴，不是终极所指，一种新艺术语言的产生必然有其存在的语境，这个语境的边界本质上就是观念的边界。此次展览的作品就是艺术家基于一种新文化语境并在此基础上对存在之突破——创造诉求——的结果，是艺术家对存在新的感悟和批判性表达。

Curator's Forward

Works of this exhibition range over a variety of art media including video art, installation art, action painting and so on. The selected artists for this exhibit include: Ai Xudong, Ding Qiufa, Hao Hao, Hui Hui, Zhuang Bowu. In this studio open exhibition, artists who’re used to focus on easel painting now choose totally new artistic performance methods as carriers of art concept. It’s an important breakthrough self experience for their art creation. Breaking the original language and fixed culture frame boundary is idealistic foundation that produces new artistic thought. There is an old Chinese saying: Without destroying the old one cannot build the new. “Destroying” means one kind of thorough carding, substitution and pertinence negation based on art spirit. Breaking is prerequisite for the mental appearance of deep art of new state.

I regard this exhibition as a crossover of art thought and creation practice of artists live in No.10 Yard, Feijia Village Art District. The transcendence is not only about art form, but a shift in art ideas and culture crossing-a revision of art criticism perspective and noumenal languages’ value and questioning on real existence.

Of course, artists select contrapuntally on the breakout and application of original artistic language rather than staying on the surface of art creation. In other words, the effectiveness of an artistic language depends on whether the artist’s thinking over questions is effective or not. In my opinion, language falls into the category of signification in conceptual statement in contemporary art instead of transcendental signified. A new artistic language comes from certain context whose border essentially is the border of concept. Artworks exhibited are not merely results of artists’ breakthrough in existence and appeal to creation which is based on a new culture context, and artists’ new perception towards existence and critical expression.
