何明桂

自七零年代后段的除夕夜出生，我在经济快速转变的年代成长。外来异文化的渗透让我嚮往，并影响我的想像力至深。一生中最想拥有的宝物是日本漫画Doraemon机器猫的「任意门」。自中学以来受的是教育体制下的学院美术训练，研究所的自我思考训练则在英国工业城市雪菲尔养成。目前住在台湾台北。

我在大量的日本文化中成长，日本导演是枝裕和的其中一部电影：死后世界(After Life)影响我很深。在电影裡，灵者被送至下一个地点，也即是他们所选择的生前回忆场景或片段。他们的回忆场景被以灵者主观的角度来製作成拟真的拍摄场景，因此这些场景或片段中并没有更进一步的讯息来解释。
我发现我的画与我的雕塑在某种层面上有相似的质感。这主观式的孤立感常常出现在我的作品裡，他们可以是截自私人失败感情的一段在国家公园的旅程，或是震撼的爆炸以及它產生的烟。没有相关的线索，他们总是在一个没有特定背景中寂寞的表现出来。我想像著我们也许没有经歷著相同的事件，但是我们却仍然拥有相似的感知。

2005年我参与雪菲尔年度当代展览「Immediate 3」，2008年至日本横滨驻村两个月并发表个展「乾物女的最终电车」，2010年在台北大未来耿画廊参与「Oopject」物件展。

HO,MING-KUEI

I was born on the New Year ’s Eve in the late 70s and I grew up with a dramatic economic growing .Foreigner culture played an important role and influenced my imagination a lot. In my life time, Ren I Door, from a Japanese animation –the Robot cat Doraemon would be my dream gift. I received the academic art training since junior high school and grew my critical thinking from my MA study in Sheffield, England. I currently live and work in Taipei, Taiwan.

I was growing up surrounded by a vast amount of Japanese culture. I was influenced a lot by Koreeda Hirokazu’s(是枝裕和) film After Life. In the movie, deaths were sent to the next stop where they made memorial scenes they chose to stay with. Their memorial scenes were produced with subjective angles from the deaths. There were no further information or details to explain the scenes.

I find my drawings and sculptures somehow contain a similar quality. This subjective isolation is often demonstrated in my works. Works could be selected from, for example, a trip through a national park from the memory of my failing relationship, or the image of a shocking explosion and its smoke. Without the related clues, they always were showed lonely with no specific background. I imagine that we may not experience the same event, however, we may still share the same sensation. 

In 2005, I was selected to participate in an annual art exhibition “Immediate 3” in Sheffield; in 2008, I was chosen to be the resident artist in Yokohama, Japan and held my solo show “Himono Onna’s Final Call” and in 2010, I participated the group show “Oopject” at TKG art space in Taipei.
